The Master of Medicine (MMed) in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery is a five-year, hospital-based specialist training program designed to prepare physicians in the comprehensive management of congenital, traumatic, and acquired defects requiring reconstructive care. The program combines structured academic instruction with progressive supervised surgical training in plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic procedures. It emphasizes competencies in wound management, burn care, microsurgery principles, tissue reconstruction, and functional restoration, alongside research and quality improvement training, preparing graduates to serve as competent plastic and reconstructive surgeons within Rwanda’s health system and beyond.
