Description

The Fellowship in Neonatal and Perinatal Medicine is a subspecialty clinical training program designed to develop advanced expertise in the care of newborn infants and high-risk pregnancies. Delivered over 2 years through hospital-based training, the program combines structured academic instruction with supervised clinical practice in neonatal and maternity units, including neonatal intensive care. It emphasizes competencies in newborn resuscitation, management of prematurity and birth complications, neonatal infections, respiratory support, and perinatal care coordination, alongside research and quality improvement training, preparing graduates to serve as specialist neonatologists within Rwanda’s health system and beyond.
