The Fellowship in Pediatric Emergency and Critical Care is a subspecialty clinical training program designed to develop advanced expertise in the acute and critical care management of infants, children, and adolescents. Delivered over 2 years through hospital-based training, the program combines structured academic instruction with supervised clinical practice in pediatric emergency units and intensive care settings. It emphasizes competencies in pediatric resuscitation, management of life-threatening conditions, trauma care, mechanical ventilation, and critical illness monitoring, alongside research and quality improvement training, preparing graduates to serve as specialist pediatric emergency and critical care physicians within Rwanda’s health system and beyond.
