Description
The Master of Science in Epidemiology is a two-year, full-time program combining coursework and supervised research. It equips students with advanced skills in epidemiological methods, biostatistics, and the application of these tools to real-world public health challenges. The program prepares health professionals to measure and analyze disease spread, manage health services, plan healthcare systems, and critically assess social and cultural factors influencing health.
Graduates gain expertise in disease surveillance, health problem investigation, data analysis, and dissemination of findings to inform evidence-based policies in Rwanda, the East African Community, and beyond. By the end of the program, professionals are expected to:
- Investigate health problems and identify priorities
- Formulate public health policies to address local and national needs
- Identify risk factors and propose evidence-based interventions
Entry Requirements
- Must have at least one year of experience in health sector
- English proficiency is the requirement for the applicants
- Agreement to comply with the Postgraduate regulations of the University of Rwanda
Ideal Student Profile
Candidates holding at least Bachelor’s degree in health sciences and related fields, Biology, biochemistry, social sciences, physics, demography, mathematics, chemistry, nursing and management, environmental Health, Nutrition.
