General Undergraduate Entry Requirements
1. Academic Qualifications
- Advanced General Certificate of Secondary Education (A-Level): Applicants must have at least two principal passes in relevant subject combinations.
- Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) Certificate: Applicants should have at least three principal passes in relevant subjects.
- Primary Teacher Education Certificate: A minimum of a Credit in relevant subject combinations is required.
Note: Specific programs may have additional subject requirements and minimum aggregate points. For instance, programs in the College of Science and Technology (CST) may require a minimum of 24 points in specified subjects.
2. English Language Proficiency
- The medium of instruction at UR is English.
- Applicants without proof of English proficiency will be required to register for and pass an English language module offered by the University Language Centre. The pass mark for the English proficiency test is 70%.
3. General Paper Requirement
- A pass in the General Paper is required. Applicants without a pass, but meeting the minimum criteria in terms of principal subject passes, will be admitted and required to pass a special common course offered by UR prior to graduation.
4. International Applicants
- International students must have at least five passes at "O" level and at least two principal passes at "A" level or an equivalent qualification obtained in the same sitting.
- Foreign qualifications must be evaluated by the Rwanda Education Board (REB) prior to registration.
